The standards

The standards

The JAG Insourcing accreditation standards are bespoke standards designed for insourcing providers who provide endoscopy services. The standards apply to insourcing providers who meet the following definition:

Insourcing is the provision of additional endoscopy capacity by an independent provider or group, delivering endoscopy services and procedures within the grounds of the host organisation’s premises. Services are provided by specialist medical staff, which may include clinical endoscopists and nurses. Service may include decontamination technicians and administration. The provider is responsible for delivering a complete service, including oversight of clinical governance.

Insourcing does not refer to the supply of temporary staff or the use of staffing agencies to meet short-term workforce needs. It is the delivery of a fully managed clinical service, rather than the provision of individual staff members.

The aim of the JAG insourcing standards is to define a high-quality, safe and appropriate endoscope insourcing framework that can be delivered by an insourcing workforce. The standards have a focus on onboarding and contracting with the host organisation, and includes an environment domain for providers delivering endoscopy within mobile units and static sites.

The standards were clinically designed and are underpinned by national policy. They are in line with the JAG standards for NHS and independent services. Insourcing providers are asked to provide evidence to support their application for accreditation and demonstrate compliance with the standards.
